My dorm-sized lab - zwork - 09-28-2017

I've put together a nice little lab with gear I've collected over the last few months, when I started studying for CCNA

Network Rack (from top to bottom)
  • It's a little hard to tell in the photo, but there is a laptop on top of the 2611 that is going to become an ESXi host once I have time to configure it (the laptop is a System76 Pangolin Performance (Model panp9))
  • Cisco 2611XM
  • Furman Power Conditioner
  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 x48
  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 x48
  • Cisco Catalyst 3560 PoE-24
  • Cisco 2801
  • Cisco 2801
Server "Rack" (from top to bottom)
  • Linksys E8350
  • Dell PowerEdge R510
  • Dell PowerEdge R510
Each PE R510 is equipped with an Intel Xeon X5660 (6core w/ HT, 2.8Ghz), 32GB of ECC RAM, an iDRAC6 card, a PERC6i controller, and 5x1TB SATA drives. They are both configured with a RAID10 array using 4 of the drives, which gives 1TB of usable storage, and the 5th drive is just standalone (yielding 2TB of storage per device).

Currently, they are both running VMware ESXi 5.5, and are running a variety of Windows and Linux VMs.

Unfortunately, the servers are loud, so I'm trying to figure out another solution of where I could potentially put them, so if anybody has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

What kind of VMs are running on that fancy looking setup? And are your ESXi servers setup for failover?
